Miners Rest has seen significant flooding especially in 2010 and 2011 which saw devastation to some residents in the township. We have advocated for suitable and appropriate flood mitigation as we were promised in 2010 and will continue to speak to all levels of government to seek the millions of dollars required to ensure Miners Rest won't see that impact again
For a number of years we have seen increasing numbers of enrollments at our local primary school. Sadly the area surrounding the school is a high risk area for safety and has limited parking available. We have and will continue to speak with council to ensure that more school crossings, speed reductions, footpaths and appropriate parking is implemented as highlighted in numerous traffic studies.
We have been a major driving force behind seeing a new township plan for Miners Rest. Miners Rest has had no adopted development/township plan since 1994 and development has been allowed to boom which has resulted in inappropriate planning both residential and commercially. The final stage of the plan is underway and we have had submissions and meetings with council every step of the way. We will continue to advocate to get this plan adopted in the best interests on Miners Rest moving towards 2040
